So So....SILQ , Nothing wrong but nothing Special

This weekend, I ended up staying at this city hotel at Asoke area, Bangkok. The place called SILQ Bangkok.

This all began by our Client-friend, David who left a wine for us after his stay in Bangkok at this hotel. So, I figured if we have to come here to pick up the wine, might as well Check in for a weekend to see why he likes staying here.

The overall styling is not bad to my eyes, clean and simple.

The lobby is on the second floor, the only floor of the building with the big glass window panels. The building seems good for a serviced apartment and not bad for what they are, a small hotel.
Lobby area with the small bar which I do not see any guests there at night. One of the guest sat outside in front of hotel to enjoy his drink alone. Mostly the guest went out.

Got in to the room, a bit of Thai-ness design cue at the headboard, in the lift mirror and the cabinet doors.

Here we go, the complimentary wine from David with my name card on it. So surprise that he carries my business card with him even though, we have been working for him nearly a year already. That makes me feel better than the wine only.

The wine will be for tomorrow lunch with our China trip gang gathering.

Good size of Tv screen they offer.

Pretty big size of toilet seat and big sink for this type of hotel.

Very nice detail of their tissue box which the tissue itself were arranged as a flower, I suppose this is not just coincidence.

Once I unpacked and put together my traveling Tea and Coffee maker set, together with the wine, suddenly this corner seems really interesting.

weekend wardrobe!

Actually the First thing that catches my eyes when to room door was opened, was my reflection on the wall artwork! So, I had to capture it for my self-portrait collection.

Since we are so close to one of the BKK-night entertainment, our dinner is set to be at Soi Cowboy!

Soi Cowboy observation!
Full Fun and Sad

The street all lid up in neon light, marked the entertainment district. Seem convenient location here, so you do not need to go to PatPong when you can get the same right in the middle of BKK city.

The girls are young and in quite in a good shape and since they got influenced by Korean girl gang, they all dress in team. Exciting at first but sadly at last. If you are marked by number and be called by number, how would you feel? One of the girl,# 24, said she has to learn and pass certain test to be able to act on her own without awing permission all the time from Old colleague, A.K.A. "ma ma san" I just want to take a picture with her and her girl gang, they are still student and could not make their mind freely. " Have to ask ma ma san" and of course, the answer was NO, No Photo.

I can't help but wonder, as a young girls like them, yes they should be a student in certain university preparing to graduate and out to make the most of their professional life. Yet it is odd that they chose another university right in the heart of BKK called " Cowboy U" once graduated, what degree they will get? The Cowboy girl?

Signing off of this interesting weekend world....

Slow world @ Phranakorn Nonlen

I actually stayed at this place two weeks ago but just have time to blog about it while packing up for this weekend stay! So it may be after finishing this blig, I will begin bloging about the new stay right away. Sprry about that. Anyway, back to that weekend, I Planed to stay slow at this ECO Homestay called Phranakorn Nonlen. The name itself got me years ago when I heard it first time. It means the place for loungy stay, easy sleep and chilling in the Phranakorn district which was BKK old City. And time by time, I have learnt all of their special uniqueness way to run this place. I fell in love with the concept of their SLOW life.

I have to admit that the hand illustration/painting in Phranakorn Nonlen must be one of its signature. The vision of the space developer would not be completed without these wonderful artworks. Every walls are covered by the artwork illustrating the story of our old Phranakorn lifestyle. Each room referred to each business in the past, the bookstore, the carema shop and what we got is the Fish shop called Pla Nakorn, means Fish City.

In our room are full with fish tanks illustration and other great fun artworks such as the typewriter, the clock with lovely butterfly. Reviewing these via the pics on my blog may not excite you because there are other places around BKK and other city in Thailand have the same style of painting and same concept of back to the old time of Thailand. BUT, it is so much different when you know that this place certainly has style and taste, and must reflected from the owner/ developer. All seems right and clean and enough to make you fall in love quietly, slowly and strongly.

We have the breakfast included in our rate and it was not disappointed. Very healthy, tasty and right amount to begin your day. What I like about this Homestay is this common area that feels like a school canteen, which everyone sits, eats and enjoys the great conversation here. We sat there the whole morning and realizes that most of the guests are from Europe and they all come with small young kids. YES, this is such a great place for treveling with your kids. They must feel like it is a toy world for them, just not TOYRUS type, it is Thai R Us type.

I could not say enough via this blog all the wonderful things about this place but just to mark it as one of my favorite spot in BKK! And certainly will come back for sure and more regular. Other interesting things about Phranakorn Nonlen is that they offer the lovely workshop for their guests. I signed up for the Soap making which not yet been participated. I wish I could do it this weekday and will make the soap for my Mom as the Thai mother day is approaching.

The white bright and airy room is a sewing workshop. This could be a really nice crafty class but they told me that they are waiting for the owner to come back and operate it ( after her first baby delivery soon)

For you who want to learn more about this place, their website is worth to visit. Definitely great style and fun to navigate. It is really a nice weekend journey added in to my mini vacation world and wish to share to you all, this lovely hidden gem in BKK.

ANANTARA Sathorn

This post is about one of my favorite weekend spot, ANANTARA Sathorn, the same chain as the luxurious Villa style resort in Phuket( the picture above). This Sathorn one just opened not long ago and located right here in BKK. I booked ANANTARA, Sathorn online via Agoda because the Site always have a good rate.

And yes, Anantara 's price was beyond good. Just 2,200 baht without the breakfast ( I always make our own breakfast , coffee and tea..so, this is fine ) even including the breakfast, still very affordable.

The images they put in Agoda is way above their rate, seemed very promising including the great looking swimming pool and 24 hour gym. Wifi free, Big bathtub, pantry area, separate living from the bedroom, dining table for four and a balcony! Yes, you get all of that.!
From the pictures, I thought it was built as a serviced apartment and that 's why they included all of that in the room design. For all these facilities and their rate, Anantara serves my weekend needs quite well.
So I booked it and we have been staying there for few weekends already. It is one of out regular weekend spot. It may have changed a few things from time to time, such as our latest weekend stay, they stopped giving you the in-room slippers, the give away toiletries, even the toothbrush set.
But still we think it is the best buy for what we got.

First space of the room, four seats dinning table, pantry section with small sink.

The living area where my hubby already made himself a reserved spot sitting while using his iPAD, of course with complimentary Wi Fi.

42" TV with satellite program and the mobile computer key to use it for Internet browsing as well. They provided a lot of channels, varieties from many country!
Right next from TV, you will see the door to the separated bedroom.

Working desk next to the balcony from the living are.

In the bedroom, king size bed, good comfort.

Another generous TV and the vanity desk.

You can access to the bathroom directly from the bedroom.

Nice detail on the bathroom mirror.

Nice hidden door for the pressing, ironing section. Discovered surprisingly by mu hubby.

Nice coffee/tea complimentary.

View from the balcony.

Attractive Swimming pool at night. Opened till 10 pm.

Walkway to the GYM. Nice green garden, very well maintain.

24 hour GYM to boost up your working out adrenaline.

Female locker with full shower room, vanity desk and steam room.

Relax at Pool side.

The City VIVA community mall with VILLA supermarket is just next door.

Generally, ANANTARA, Sathorn is very generous on their rate, comparing to the experience of staying there! The staffs are quite helpful and professional. Even the security guy could speak little English and able to suggest the foreigner guests where to go for dinner.
So far, here is my rate:
This stay outshines my usual experience , even when comparing to 5 star hotels in Bangkok, and with the best deal rate to STEAL!
They provide you what I always look for when I search for my residencial property. Now I could get all that in such an affordable price. It suits me on every aspect. What more could I ask for?
It is HOME.!
